Blood Sugar 10 Day Diet Detox: Days 1 – 5

A recap of my Blood Sugar 10 Day Diet Detox: Days 1-5 experience.

Alright so I’m itching to share with you all my experience so far on the Blood Sugar 10 Day Diet Detox. Let’s just dive straight in:

Day 1 – Monday


  • Woke up and drank a cup of warm water with lemon essential oil and apple cider vinegar. 
  • I’ve been walking on the treadmill for about 15 minutes in the morning, just to wake up and get my system moving. The detox calls for 30 minutes of exercise but since I do CrossFit in the evenings I had to modify this.
  • Then I take my PGX fiber while I’m getting my breakfast smoothie together.
  • For breakfast: Whole Food Protein Smoothie that includes a mix of frozen blueberries, frozen cranberries, brazil nuts, cashews, walnuts, hemp seeds, chia seeds, almond butter, coconut butter, almond milk, and water.
  • Then I take my every day supplements. The supplements I take every day include: A women’s multi-vitamin, super greens supplement, biotin, probiotic, fish oil, vitamin d, vitamin b-complex, and essential oils during this season of Thieves or Peppermint + Lemon + Lavender. The extra supplement I’m taking with the detox is a blood sugar regulator. 

Mid-Morning Snack:

  • 10 nut mix which includes walnuts, almond, cashews, brazil nuts


  • Take PGX fiber supplements
  • Chicken Soup from the detox program

Mid-Afternoon Snack:

  • Mix of tahini dipping sauce and spinach/walnut pesto with sliced peppers, carrots, and celery.


  • Grilled Salmon with caramelized onions over a bed of arugula 

How’d I feel:

  • Overall I felt great all day Monday. I had a slight headache and missed my coffee but it wasn’t too bad.

Day 2 – Tuesday

Breakfast: My morning routine stayed the same. 

Mid Morning Snack: Same 

Lunch: Same

Dinner: Chicken breast with ratatouille with steamed broccoli 

How’d I feel:

  • Okay this is the day it started hitting me. I felt fine throughout the day then in the evening I had a MAJOR headache. 

Day 3 – Wednesday

Breakfast: Same

Mid-Morning Snack: Same

Lunch: Same

Mid-Afternoon Snack: Same

Dinner: Asian-flavored chicken skewers with wilted greens

How’d I feel:

  • I started the day fine again but then I just felt OFF all day. I honestly thing it might have been a combination of trying to fight off some virus plus the detox.

Day 4 – Thursday

This was SUCH a weird day.

I woke up with the WORST headache of my life, shaking, felt feverish, sore throat, and tired so I stayed home from work and ended up sleeping the whole day.

I feel that I’m a fairly “healthy” person so I think my body was fighting the virus that B currently has as well as managing the fluctuates from this detox. My body just COULDN’T deal. 

I pretty much followed the same meal plan for the detox through the day but ended up having to have a piece of Ezekiel bread in the morning because I was so nauseas and a scoop of almond butter.

However, by that evening, I felt almost 100% better. It was CRAZY.

Day 5 – Friday

Breakfast: Same

Mid-Morning Snack: Same

Lunch: Leftover stir-fry plus some chicken soup

Mid-Afternoon Snack: Same

Dinner: Chicken soup with avocado and cilantro.

How’d I feel: I definitely felt better than Thursday. I had some Yerba Matte tea in the afternoon that I’m sure had some caffeine in it and it was crazy to feel how different my body felt. 


So far I feel the detox is definitely working and has certainly helped me nix my cravings for chocolate. However, it’s been a difficult adjustment because my body is so use to having fruit and processing those natural sugars and it’s just not getting those.

My goal with this detox was to simply just flush my body of toxins and start the year feeling fresh and fueled with real food. This week has been an up and down adjustment but it’s amazing to feel how refreshed my body feels after flushing so many toxins!
