My journey following the book The Blood Sugar Solution: 10 Day Detox Diet by Dr. Mark Hyman.
If you know, me you know I’m not a big fan of “diets”, “detoxes”, or “challenges” because they typically don’t offer a sustainable, lifestyle change. They’re often a quick fix that won’t fix the much bigger problem.
However, once in a while, some detoxes can be good to cleanse your body of toxins and help reset your system.
A friend of mine shared with me the Blood Sugar Solution 10 Day Detox Diet by Dr. Hyman and I instantly knew this is a program I would enjoy. Dr. Hyman’s approach is one that isn’t much different than my every day lifestyle however, it’s created to flush your body of all toxins and set you up for a healthy lifestyle change.
As I dive in to this 10 day detox that we’ll start on Monday, January 9th, I thought it’d be fun to document my journey here.
If you’re interested in learning more about the full program, you can order the book from Amazon HERE or use this shortened PDF version HERE. And if you work best with a support group, a group of friends and we started a Facebook group for the detox that I’d be happy to add you to!
Some things you’ll have to start weening off before the detox include:
– Caffeine — AKA COFFEE.. This is the hardest thing for me. I’ve had a headache two days in a row from this.
– Processed foods and forms of sugar.
For me, I’m personally approaching this detox as a healthy flush. Most of the foods and recipes included in the detox are how I would eat in my every day. But I’m excited to follow a complete plan of daily walks, epsom salt baths, and healthy supplements in addition to my healthy meals.
My plan is to use this blog as my “journal” during the process. I’ll probably recap a few days of the detox into one post instead of posting every day. I’ll also make sure to come back to this post and link to all of those recaps.
