What a MARVELOUS Monday indeed. I’m coming off a wonderful weekend celebrating Christmas early with B’s family (although I was still sick) and TODAY my family will be in Georgia! Although I will not be heading up to the cabin until tomorrow morning.
Friday we had our office Christmas party luncheon followed by a white elephant gift exchange and some good ole pictionary!
After celebrating Christmas with B’s family Saturday afternoon we headed down to Buckhead to do our own Christmas celebration!
We had reservations at King and Duke in Buckhead; farm to table restaurant. I started off with The Beautiful and The Damned Cocktail which was La Favorite Rhum, walnut liqueur, pear-rosemary sugar, lemon and sparkling cider! Not only was the presentation of the cocktail beautiful but it was just as delicious!
B and I split two appetizers; the pimento cheese hushpuppies with a sweet jelly glaze and the charred octopus with winter roots, olives, chilies and torn herbs. Both were just phenominal and B and I agreed that the octopus was the best we’ve ever had. Octopus by itself doesn’t have much flavor so you need a strong dish to do it justice.
A friend of ours told us the entrees weren’t that large so we should order a few appetizers…. but they were wrong. Our entrees were HUGE! I ordered the Lamb Shank with trumpet mushrooms and scallions. Guys, I don’t even have any words for this. It literally fell off the bone as I went to cut it. It was marinated overnight in a molasses mixture making it sweet and so tender. We also had a side of cooked kale in white wine and smashed potatoes. We had originally ordered brussels sprouts and they brought us potatoes instead. When the waitress saw the mistake she was so sweet and boxed up a thing of brussels to go because she declared them the best brussels she’s ever had and we needed to try them! haha!
Clearly we were STUFFED and sadly left no room for dessert. But again, the restaurant was phenomenal and brought 3 complimentary mini homemade doughnuts since it was our first visit! The service and staff went over and above to make you feel comfortable and happy.
I also loved that at the bottom of the menu they noticed what local farm their chicken came from, pork, lamb, produce, etc. King + Duke is one of our top favorite restaurants now and we will definitely be making an appearance again soon!
Sunday I picked up a few new-to-me chocolate bars for stocking stuffers. Don’t they sound delicious?!
I also squeezed in some relaxation time for yoga and green juice to try and finally kick this sickness!
And a cup of homemade chicken noodle soup definitely helps end the weekend on a satisfying note!
Hope you have a great Monday! XOXO
