Why you should grow herbs and produce

Happy Monday! Can you believe I’m saying that already? And can you believe THIS weekend is Memorial Day weekend? Crazy.

We had lots to finish up on our guest bathroom mini renovation this weekend. We finished the floor, painted trim, hung trim, got a new toilet, and put it in. Very productive weekend!

And I played in my garden of course. Just look at this haul… left half is kale, swiss chard, spinach, and herbs from my garden and the right is strawberries, beets, goat cheese, and eggs from the farmers market.

Obviously, I’m sure you know that I’m a huge advocate of growing your own herbs/produce. Not matter where you live. If you live in an apartment you can grow potted herbs near a window, or if you have a small patio you can grow potted greens or a tomato plant.

Benefits of growing your own produce/herbs:

  • Cheaper grocery bill
  • Fresh ingredients to add to any meal
  • Reduces stress by tending to the garden
  • Happier planet. Mother Earth will say thank you!
  • Increase in meal creativity

So this weekend, I challenge you to spend $10 to better yourself, your eating, and the planet by heading to your local farmers market or Home Depot/Lowers, buying some soil and at least one plant, and getting to work. I promise you’ll love the benefits.
