{WIAW} Quick Business Trip

Wheww, what a quick and effective business trip to Traverse City! The business workshop I attended was an educational seminar on the steps to take in order to start a business. It was very informative and gave me lots of items to put into action!

Although it’s hard for me not being around my friends from college or living there, I’m SO excited to begin shaping MY OWN future. I always felt that in college you just had to go through “the motions”. You were supposed to take certain courses and complete certain requirements. I’ve always been a free spirit and enjoy paving my own path. That’s another reason I loved getting involved in so many different activities/organizations throughout college! It helped open my eyes to all the possibilities I can create for my future. And now that I’m done with college, I’m doing JUST that. Paving my own path and I couldn’t be happier. Although it’s hard looking for a job and learning to balance real-world responsibilities, I’ve always enjoyed working and doing what I love so I can’t wait to begin this new chapter in my life!

Alright enough blurbin’—> Onto my eats from the trip!

{Pre-Workout}

1/2 banana with almond butter before I hit the gym to complete day 2 of #BestBodyBootcamp!

{Breakfast}

Whipped banana oatmeal with some egg whites mixed in and topped with granola & almond butter. I like to add egg whites to my oatmeal sometimes to give it some extra “staying power” and protein!

Once we arrived in Traverse City, my dad and I went to lunch at Poppycocks (one of my favorite restaurants in Traverse)! To start we ordered a glass of their special hot cider and pita chips. The pita chips are homemade and come with warm cheese dip, hummus and salsa. SO GOOD! For lunch I had the small Front Street Salad that came with pecans, dried cherries, fresh goat cheese and grilled chicken with a cup of Tomato Basil Gorginzola Cheese soup. Very filling but held me over for the afternoon.

We couldn’t be in Traverse City and not stop to check out a microbrewery we haven’t been to! The Filling Station is a microbrewery built in the old train stop in Traverse. Such a unique location and great beer!

Before heading to the evening workshop, we grabbed some sushi from a location that I looked up on Yelp and read some good reviews about! To start I ordered Miso Soup and my dad ordered steamed Japanese potstickers, which of course I stole a couple!

I wanted to try some Sashimi so we ordered Tuna Sashimi and Salmon Sashimi. For sushi we ordered the “Traverse City Roll”, which was smoked salmon, cucumber, avocado and eel, and the “Rainbow Roll” which was eel, cucumber, avocado, and fish on the top. All so good! I love sushi.

I woke up tired and groggy this morning but dragged myself to the beautiful hotel gym. And guess what, 10 minutes in to my BestBodyBootcamp workout day 3 I was feeling refreshed and energized! Amazing how fitness does that. No more excuses for me. I’m making permanent changes. It’s all about self-motivation! #FitFluential

Have a great Wednesday!

XOXO. Britt

Sushi fan? What’s your favorite type?

Do you have any must-stop locations when visiting cities? Like breweries, certain restaurants, etc.?

    You will do great with your future career! Definitely know what you mean about “going through the motions” in college. Everything looks sooooo good. I always put egg whites in my oats 😀

      Thanks girl! Exactly, college is great but I feel like there needs to be more freedom in your development. You’re gonna do great too!

    Ooh I love the sound of sushi, but I’ve never tried sashimi before! I can’t even do the real fish kind of sushi, haha. Such a wimp! 😉

    The business thing you went to sounds really cool! I’d definitely be interested in starting my own business someday. And I know what you mean about college! I always felt that way while I was there. Especially since I went to a state school, it was just like I was dealing with a bunch of ridiculous bureaucracy, not actually learning stuff. I can count on one hand the classes I took that really made a difference in my education.

      You have to try it! SO GOOD! And so fun to eat too!
      Exactly, the classes certainly helped educate me but I needed more freedom in picking those!
